Excellent service from a Waterford original. Hence Walt's Original Coney Island. A must stop

Prior ownership has returned ... and given the business a deep cleaning and fresh coat of paint.
The coney's are still good. The fries are still good. But ... no more sliders? WTH?
Staff/service is effective, efficient, knowledgeable and does their job with personality, and they know their regulars.
Why only 4-stars? The coney's are not up to the same standard as Hippo's and I am a tad disappointed that sliders are absent from the menu. -

Ordered lunch here today for our shop and we all were very disappointed .
The hot dogs for the coneys were cold and didnt even seem like they were actually cooked, the cheese fries were their cottage fries with what looked like 2 slices of fake cheese then microwaved, so the cheese covered like 8 actual fries, the regular order of fries were soggy and greasy, ordered a coke to go while waiting for them to get me my carry out order and they didnt even bother putting ice in the cup so it was warm.
We will definitely not be ordering from here again. -

I, too, have passed by Walt's for the 20+ years I've lived in Waterford but never really had the desire to go in. But today, I decided to try it. So glad I did. It's a tiny place with memorabilia EVERYWHERE. There are about 4 stools at the counter, 4 booths in the back & a few tables. I assumed it was an order at the counter place because there were no menus, so that's what I did. The man (I think he's the owner) who took my order asked where I was going to sit (although it's not like he wouldn't be able to see me) and I pointed to a booth. He gave me my water, I sat down & started looking around.
I ordered an original coney and cottage fries. It didn't take long for them to come. The coney just came on a piece of paper, not on anything else, which I thought was odd. The cottage fries came in a plastic basket. The coney was good -- it had the hot dog, chili sauce & onions, just as it should. The cottage fries were plentiful, fried just right -- crisp but not greasy. I ate every single bite of everything, which I rarely do.
I will definitely be back the next time I want a simple coney. -

Quick review.
Stopped in for a coney. Decided to add a slider and some cottage fries.
Solid coney. I like that I can actually pick it up. Good chili sauce. The slider isn't actually called a slider on the menu, just a small burger. Personally I wouldn't call it a slider either. It's about the right footprint but the beef patty is bigger than a traditional slider. Still tasty though.
But the cottage fries? I'm glad I only got a half order. Because I would have pounded the hell out of a full order. Friggin' delicious.
Also, really nice people.
An aside: I was there once before and watched them make their evidently famous grilled cheese. Multiple cheeses but the kicker is that they sprinkle it with grated Kraft Parm before grilling it. I tried it at home, and it's genius.
